Serbia and the UAE have agreed to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation for the advancement of hydrogen and other forms of renewable energy, according to the Serbian government.
The Serbian government announced on Tuesday that the Memorandum of Cooperation between the two countries will include cooperation in the exchange of technical expertise, according to a press release.
According to Serbia's energy minister, Dubravka Djedovic, companies based in the United Arab Emirates that specialize in renewable energy are already present in Serbia. Additionally, construction on the 150 MW Cibuk 2 wind farm is set to commence this year.
In 2019, the joint venture of UAE-based Masdar, Taaleri Energia, and German development finance institution DEG, Vetroelektrane Balkana (WBEG), launched the 158 MW Cibuk 1 wind farm in northern Serbia. The wind farm, which cost 300 million euros ($324 million), has the capacity to power 113,000 households.
