CS Wind Offshore has successfully delivered another batch of transition pieces for Dominion Energy's 2,600MW Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project, marking a significant step in the development of the U.S. offshore wind farm.
The MS Sunrise vessel arrived at Denmark's Port of Aalborg on January 3 to take delivery of the foundation structures, departing for the U.S. on January 8.
Søren Schlott Mikkelsen, Chief Operating Officer for transition pieces at CS Wind Offshore, provided an update on the delivery process, stating, “We have loaded 18 units out again. Now we are at 69 transition pieces delivered for the CVOW project.” He added that despite the challenges posed by strong wind gusts in Denmark, the operation was completed successfully. “In good and close cooperation between the ship, project, port, and crane company, challenges were managed in the safest and best manner,” Mikkelsen said.
The ship is now en route across the Atlantic Ocean, with further deliveries planned as the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project moves forward.
