EnBW has successfully commissioned its Wulkow-Trebnitz in after delays in connecting the project to the grid. Although construction of the nine Vestas V150 wind turbines was completed in 2023, the project faced setbacks due to issues with the grid connection, the company explained.

The wind farm, located in Brandenburg, received its permit in late 2020 and was developed by Naturwind Potsdam, with WPD and EnBW acting as project developers and operators. After overcoming grid connection delays, the turbines were officially commissioned at the end of 2024.

The wind farm features nine turbines, each with a capacity of 4.2MW and a total height of 150 meters. Five of these turbines are operated by EnBW and are expected to provide energy for approximately 24,000 households.

EnBW project manager Manuel Opitz commented, “We had to wait a long time for the grid connection, which of course was not planned that way. We are happy to have finally reached the milestone of commissioning. Our sincere thanks go to all partners and municipalities involved for their valuable support during the construction phase of the wind farm.

In a move to engage local communities, EnBW is offering citizens from the municipalities of Müncheberg, Neuhardenberg, and Vierlinden the opportunity to invest in the project. Through a subordinated loan, residents can invest between 500 and 10,000 euros for a period of seven years, earning an annual interest rate of 4.75%. The subscription phase for these investments is set to begin at the end of February.

The completion of the Wulkow-Trebnitz wind farm represents a significant step in EnBW's efforts, despite the earlier delays, and offers local residents a chance to financially benefit from the project's success.
