Eurowind Energy and Arla have entered into a new power purchase agreement (PPA), ensuring the supply of 60,000 MWh of electricity annually to Arla over the next 10 years. The electricity will be generated from wind and solar projects at two of Eurowind Energy's upcoming energy parks.
This latest agreement builds on a previous 10-year PPA signed in 2022, which saw Arla secure electricity from Eurowind Energy's Norre Okse So wind park. That agreement was the first step in Arla's commitment to achieving 100% green electricity in Denmark by 2025.
Under the new agreement, Arla will collectively purchase nearly 2 TWh of electricity from Eurowind Energy's energy parks throughout the duration of the contract. The two companies have positioned the deal as a significant step toward ensuring a reliable and sustainable supply of green electricity for large-scale operations.
Eurowind Energy, which develops, builds, and operates renewable energy parks, also sells electricity to larger customers. This allows businesses, particularly those with high energy demands, to guarantee a stable supply of green power.
“Larger companies can ensure a guarantee for a large amount of green electricity, which can meet the large demand for electricity that is typically characteristic of companies of a certain size,” said a company spokesperson.
The partnership between Eurowind Energy and Arla reflects a growing trend among major corporations to secure long-term renewable energy contracts as part of their sustainability commitments.
