Nexans has been awarded a €1 billion EPCI (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation) contract for the LanWin 2 offshore grid project, under the TenneT framework agreement granted in May 2023. The contract involves the supply of 250 kilometers of 525 kV High-Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) and Cross-Linked Polyethylene (XLPE) onshore and offshore export cable systems.
LanWin 2 is part of TenneT's broader 2GW offshore grid connection initiative in the German North Sea, which is designed to facilitate the integration of renewable energy into Germany's and Europe's power grids. The project is expected to be commissioned by 2030.
This latest contract further strengthens Nexans's ongoing collaboration with TenneT, following previous agreements for the BalWin3 and LanWin4 projects announced earlier in 2024. Together, these projects are pivotal in expanding the infrastructure needed to support the region's renewable energy transition.
Pascal Radue, executive vice president of Nexans' PWR-Transmission business group, commented on the contract award, saying: “We are proud to secure this project under the TenneT framework agreement for the LanWin 2 project. This achievement highlights Nexans' dedication to delivering innovative cable solutions and reliable project execution to support Europe's energy transition.
