Eco Wave Power has engaged MOQ Engineering to carry out the final design and load calculations for its project in Porto, Portugal. This partnership marks a crucial milestone for the project, which is set to launch in 2026.

The project is part of a 20MW Concession Agreement with the Administracao dos Portos do Douro, Leixões e Viana do Castelo (APDL) in Porto. It will feature Eco Wave Power's proprietary wave energy technology, including a unique underwater wave energy museum and an educational center, to be housed in “The Gallery” — a room beneath the breakwater where the company's energy conversion equipment will be installed.

The development aligns with Portugal's ambitious goals, which include generating 85% of its from renewable sources by 2030. The collaboration with MOQ Engineering will focus on delivering final civil engineering designs and load calculations for the floaters, which are critical components of Eco Wave Power's wave energy conversion system. These designs and calculations will ensure the safe and efficient installation of the floaters at the project site. The work is expected to be completed by February 2025.

Inna Braverman, CEO of Eco Wave Power, highlighted the significance of the collaboration, stating: “This collaboration with MOQ Engineering represents significant progress in the development of our Portuguese project. Their expertise in engineering and design ensures that we are meeting the highest safety and operational standards.

Once MOQ completes its scope of work, Eco Wave Power will submit the full execution project, including all finalized engineering and technical specifications, to APDL for approval. Approval by APDL will allow the project to move forward to the next phase, which involves the production of the floaters and accompanying structural components.

The Porto project is expected to be the first MW-scale wave energy installation in the region and will serve as a pivotal step toward commercializing Eco Wave Power's technology on a global scale.
