Vineyard Wind, a joint venture between CIP and Avangrid, has successfully completed the installation of all 62 monopiles at the Vineyard Wind 1 offshore wind farm site off the coast of Massachusetts. The 804-megawatt project is set to become a key component of the state's renewable energy efforts.
The company confirmed the completion in a recent update on its website, marking a significant milestone in the development of the project. Raphael Leyman, a project engineer at DEME Group, celebrated the achievement, noting that the monopile installation was finished earlier this week.
In addition to the installation work, Vineyard Wind announced the commencement of cable laying operations this week. The cable laying activities, which are expected to continue through April, will involve the Cable Laying Vessel Connector, which will be responsible for laying inter-array cables. The trenching vessel Symphony will assist with cable trenching and burial tasks to ensure the proper installation of the infrastructure.
Vineyard Wind 1 is anticipated to be one of the largest offshore wind projects in the United States, contributing significantly to Massachusetts' clean energy goals.
