Siemens Gamesa, the Spanish wind turbine manufacturer, is facing another setback as Beatriz Puente, its chief financial officer, is set to leave next week, just a few months after parent company Siemens Energy took over. The announcement was made in an internal memo to staff, which did not provide a reason for her departure.
Puente, who joined Siemens Gamesa in December 2020, will be leaving effective May 15, the same day that Siemens Energy will be releasing its second-quarter results. Her departure marks the latest change in leadership at the struggling wind turbine maker.
Siemens Gamesa's CEO, Jochen Eickholt, emphasized the importance of maintaining the company's ambitious goals in the midst of these transitional times. “In these times of transition, it's important that we don't lose sight of the ambitious goals we've set for ourselves,” he said in the memo seen by Reuters.
A spokesperson for Siemens Energy confirmed the authenticity of the internal message.
The departure of Puente comes as Siemens Energy took over most of Siemens Gamesa earlier this year in an effort to address the company's operational issues that have led to significant losses. These losses have had a negative impact on Siemens Energy, which has struggled to turn around the struggling wind turbine manufacturer.
Puente's departure will leave a void in the leadership team at Siemens Gamesa, and it remains to be seen who will take her place. However, the company will need to act quickly to address its operational issues and get back on track towards profitability.
