All turbines have now been installed at the 96MW Jeonnam 1 off South Korea's southwestern coast, with preparations underway for the project's commissioning and commercial operation.

Located off Shinan County, the Jeonnam 1 project marks South Korea's first privately-led large-scale offshore wind power initiative. Siemens Gamesa completed the installation of the final turbine in December 2024, following the start of construction in early 2023 and turbine installation in September 2024.

Commercial operations are expected to begin in the first half of 2025. Jesper Krarup Holst, Chief Operating Officer for the Jeonnam 1, 2, and 3 portfolio at Copenhagen Partners (CIP), highlighted the significance of the project's completion, stating: “Completing the turbine installation before year-end demonstrates the dedication, expertise, and collaborative spirit of everyone involved.”

Holst also praised the support from project partners, including CIP and SK Innovation E&S, saying, “We are incredibly proud to deliver this essential step towards full-scale clean power generation.” He added that Jeonnam 1 is set to play a vital role in South Korea's transition.

Ryan Colbeck, Senior Director at CIP and EPC Director for Jeonnam 1, noted that the milestone reflected the careful planning and technical expertise that guided the project from its inception. “With the installation now complete, our attention turns to ensuring that the final stages of the project are carried out with the same level of safety, quality, and commitment,” Colbeck stated. He emphasized the project's potential to benefit both the local community and South Korea's goals.

The Jeonnam 1 project team has actively engaged with local stakeholders, fostering domestic job creation and supporting the growth of South Korea's offshore wind sector. It has also established partnerships with Korean suppliers, utilizing local ports and facilities.

The wind farm is a joint venture led by CIP through its fund Copenhagen Infrastructure 3, and SK Innovation E&S, a major South Korean conglomerate.
