Vestas Secures 761MW in Global Turbine Orders to Close 2024

Danish manufacturer has ended 2024 with a surge in orders totaling 761MW across projects in the United States, , and Africa. The new deals highlight the company's expanding global footprint and its commitment to supporting development.

In the U.S., Vestas secured two major orders through its Steelhead Americas development arm. One project will see the delivery of 60 V163-4.5MW turbines, totaling 270MW, with turbine installation beginning in early 2026. The second U.S. project involves a 203MW order, also utilizing the V163-4.5MW machines, scheduled for delivery in late 2026 and early 2027.

“We're pleased to close out 2024 by continuing to deliver significant projects across the U.S. and meet the growing demand for homegrown electricity while strengthening America's energy independence and security,” said Laura Beane, President of Vestas North America.

In Africa, Vestas Mediterranean will deliver 21 V150-4.5MW turbines to an undisclosed South African project. The turbines are expected to arrive by the first half of 2026, with commissioning in the latter half of the year. The project includes a 20-year service agreement.

European orders span France and Spain, with a total of 288MW across multiple projects. Notable deals in France include 13 V136-4.2MW turbines for one project and a mix of V126-3.45MW and V150-4.2MW turbines for another. Delivery for these projects will occur between 2025 and 2026, with commissioning expected shortly after. Spain will see 11 V150-4.5MW turbines installed for a 50MW project by early 2026, supported by a 10-year service agreement.

These latest orders reflect Vestas' continued success in providing tailored solutions globally, as the company works toward its goal of advancing sustainable energy and supporting national renewable energy targets.
