Windar Renovables has enlisted PORR to build a state-of-the-art factory in Szczecin, Poland, dedicated to producing towers, masts, and foundations for next-generation wind turbines. The facility, located in Ostrow Grabowski, will be completed in 18 months, bolstering Europe's renewable energy supply chain.
“The need for alternative energies in Europe is huge and continues to grow,” said Karl-Heinz Strauss, PORR's chief executive. “And so it's imperative that the appropriate infrastructure is expanded. We are proud to contribute to that with the construction of this plant.”
Spanning more than 47,000 square meters, the main building will house four production lines for wind turbine towers and a warehouse for raw materials. An additional building will focus on assembling internal components. Over three hectares of land will be developed for storage, access roads, and parking for 100 vehicles.
The project underscores Poland's growing role in renewable energy. In a related development, PORR is constructing a hydrotechnical installation terminal in Swinoujscie to support Polish wind farms in the Baltic Sea. Scheduled for completion in 2025, the terminal will be the first of its kind in Poland and one of the most advanced in Europe.
This factory and terminal reflect the increasing demand for renewable energy infrastructure, as European countries accelerate efforts to transition to cleaner energy sources. The projects are expected to strengthen the regional supply chain while contributing to global decarbonization goals.
