Spanish renewable energy firm Zelestra announced the start of construction on three solar sites in Cuenca, Castilla-La Mancha, with a combined capacity of 162 MW.
The Belinchon I, II, and III projects are expected to be operational by the second quarter of 2026, creating more than 400 jobs during construction.
The projects are part of Zelestra's Energize programme, which aims to enhance access to renewable energy for pharmaceutical supply chains.
As part of the initiative, the company has secured power purchase agreements (PPAs) for 305 GWh of renewable energy annually with major pharmaceutical companies, including Takeda, Teva, and UCB.
Supported by Swedish private equity firm EQT, Zelestra's portfolio includes 27 GW of carbon-free projects spread across 13 countries, with a global workforce of over 950 employees.
