Ocean Winds has withdrawn from a consortium set to bid for Norway's 1.5GW Utsira Nord floating wind auction, marking the second exit from the partnership after Mainstream Renewable Power's parent company, Aker, also pulled out earlier.
The decision to step away was made by Ocean Winds to focus on other opportunities within its portfolio, the company confirmed.
This leaves Statkraft, the Norwegian state power group, without any partners for the upcoming auction. Statkraft responded by stating that it is evaluating its options for participation in the tender, which has been delayed multiple times.
The Utsira Nord tender was originally scheduled for earlier but was postponed by the Norwegian Ministry of Energy to 2025, with Energy Minister Terje Aasland emphasizing the need to build a solid foundation for floating offshore wind projects. The ministry aims to finalize project area allocations in the coming year.
