Spanish engineering firm Grupo Negratin has secured a contract to build and maintain a 90-MW solar photovoltaic plant in the Murcia region of southeastern Spain. The project, named La Flota, will be located in the town of Fortuna.
The contract was awarded by Italian renewables company Eni Plenitude SpA, which selected Grupo Negratin for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services. Additionally, Grupo Negratin will provide maintenance services for the first two years of the plant's operation, the contractor stated in a press release.
Construction of La Flota is set to begin immediately, with the project expected to be completed by the end of 2025. The scope of the works includes the installation of connection infrastructure, such as a step-up substation, a switching substation, and a 6-kilometer medium voltage power line.
This project marks Grupo Negratin's second photovoltaic development in the Murcia region. The firm previously completed a solar farm in Mula, which, with nearly 500 MW of capacity, was once the largest such plant in Europe.
