Poland's energy company Polenergia has announced that its offshore wind projects, Baltyk 2 and Baltyk 3, developed in collaboration with Norway's Equinor, have signed a 30-year operation and maintenance (O&M) agreement with Equinor Polska.
The agreement covers the operation and maintenance of the two wind farms from the time they begin commercial operation. It also includes access to critical service base infrastructure, such as offices, a warehouse, a control room, and a quay, for the full operational period.
Equinor Polska will handle the construction, equipment, and maintenance of the service base, ensuring smooth operations over the projects' lifetimes. The agreement stipulates monthly payments to Equinor Polska, which will include both variable service costs and fixed capital expenditures (CAPEX) related to the service base. The total CAPEX for the O&M contract is estimated at approximately EUR 18 million (USD 19 million) spread over the 30-year period.
This agreement represents a crucial step towards securing financing for the Baltyk 2 and Baltyk 3 projects. Each farm, with a capacity of 720 MW, is expected to generate its first power in 2027 and reach full operational status by 2028. The projects are already backed by full building permits and key contractors.
Polenergia and Equinor are also jointly developing the 1.56 GW Baltyk 1 offshore wind farm, located 81 km off the Polish Baltic coast.
