SeAH Wind has successfully completed the first steel can roll at its £900 million monopile manufacturing facility at Teesworks, UK. The 7.5-meter diameter steel can was rolled earlier this month during pre-production trials, utilizing new roll bending machines from Hausler. SeAH Wind employees, working under the supervision of the equipment manufacturer, conducted the trial with a production-like setup, ensuring quality assurance and safety throughout the process.
The trial run is part of a broader effort to simulate the full manufacturing process, collect essential data, validate equipment, and ensure process quality. The construction of the 1.1 million square-foot facility is nearing completion, with SeAH Wind entering the final stages of the build on the 120-acre site.
Production manager Paul Martin emphasized the significance of the achievement, stating, “This is a pivotal and significant milestone at SeAH Wind as it signals the first steel can rolled within the factory. There has been a lot of progress made to get to this moment.”
Once fully operational, the facility will produce monopiles for export to US and European markets, with the project expected to generate up to 750 jobs by 2027.
