Energy and marine consultancy has established a new office in Mount Maunganui, , to bolster its services in the country's growing maritime and energy sectors.

The new location will offer ABL's full spectrum of marine and energy consultancy services, including marine surveying, technical due diligence, emissions consulting, and ports and harbours advisory. It will also focus on supporting New Zealand's initiatives and decarbonisation efforts through ABL's energy transition engineering expertise.

Master Mariner Morwenna Vye has been appointed as country lead for the New Zealand office. Vye, who brings nearly 20 years of maritime industry experience, previously worked with Maritime New Zealand as a regulator and investigator. “New Zealand, with its size and strategic location in the South Pacific, is a pivotal hub for maritime activities, including shipping, with 99.7% of NZ's trade transported by sea,” said Vye. She added that ABL's comprehensive consultancy services represent a significant opportunity to support the nation's maritime and energy industries.

ABL's Asia-Pacific regional managing director Simon Healey emphasized the importance of the expansion. “Establishing a market presence in New Zealand is the natural next step for ABL, following almost 40 years of growth in the region,” he said. The new office, Healey added, “provides a platform to launch our market-leading renewable energy consultancy to support New Zealand's promising offshore wind potential.”

ABL has operated in Australasia since 1988, with its regional headquarters in Perth and additional offices in Sydney and Melbourne. The New Zealand office joins ABL's global network under the umbrella of ABL Group ASA, which includes sister companies specializing in renewable energy (OWC), reservoir management (AGR), and engineering design ( Engineering).
