Masdar Consortium Secures 2-GW Solar Project in Saudi Arabia

A consortium led by UAE's , with partners from China and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), has won the rights to develop the 2-GW Al Sadawi project in .

The consortium signed a (PPA) with the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) after successfully bidding in the fifth round of the National Renewable Energy Programme (NREP).

Located in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province, the Al Sadawi solar park will be the largest project of the four tendered in a recent 3.7-GW auction. The consortium's bid of USD 12.92 (EUR 12.21) per MWh was the lowest among competitors.

The Al Sadawi project is scheduled to begin supplying power to the national grid in the second quarter of 2027. This project is part of Saudi Arabia's broader strategy to meet its target of having 50% of its energy mix come from renewable sources by 2030.
