CCE Holding has inaugurated a 40-MWp photovoltaic park in northwestern Romania, its largest solar project in Europe. Located in Arad County, the Horia 1 solar park spans 40 hectares and includes 75,249 PV modules, with an annual generation capacity sufficient to power 17,000 homes. The facility was developed by Bulgarian solar solutions firm SolarPro Technology.
Construction began in late 2023 after CCE obtained a building permit in November 2022. Financing for the project came through Austria's Raiffeisen Bank International and Romania's National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
CCE, a joint venture between Austrian company Clean Capital Energy and German renewable energy firm enernovum, views Romania as a key market. It has additional projects with permits and grid approvals, aiming to start construction on new installations in 2025.
The company's managing director for Romania, Alexandru Matei Fatu, emphasized CCE's commitment to expanding solar capacity and contributing to Romania's renewable energy targets and sustainability efforts.
