Neoenergia to Invest USD 52.2 Million in Renewable Energy Project for Fernando de Noronha Archipelago

Brazilian utility SA announced an investment of BRL 300 million (USD 52.2 million/EUR 49.1 million) to expand the use of in Pernambuco's Fernando de Noronha archipelago.

The project, named Noronha Verde, will involve the installation of a (PV) plant combined with storage, with operations expected to begin in early 2027.

The initiative, supported by both the federal and state governments, has received approval from the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) and the Pernambuco Environmental Agency (CPRH), as well as the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio).

Neoenergia, a subsidiary of Spain's Iberdrola SA, has 30 days to submit its investment plan for the project.

In addition to the hybrid energy plant, the project will also include energy efficiency initiatives aimed at raising awareness among the local population about sustainable practices.
