The government of Australia's Northern Territory has initiated public consultations for the Darwin Renewable Energy Hub, a proposed project featuring six solar parks with a combined capacity of 180 MW to 210 MW and an integrated battery energy storage system.
The 940-hectare project site, located on Crown Land near Darwin's industrial hub, will connect to the Darwin-Katherine grid.
Stakeholders, including community members and businesses, are invited to provide feedback by February 28, 2025, to help refine the project design and support the final investment decision.
Once greenlit, the AUD 400-million (USD 260 million/EUR 245.5 million) initiative is expected to generate about 500 jobs and bolster the local supply chain during construction and operations.
The government anticipates project implementation to span from 2025 to 2030.
