North Star and Vard Sign Contracts for New Offshore Wind Support Vessels with Option for Two More

, the UK-based offshore wind support vessel operator, has signed contracts with Vard for the construction of two commissioning service operation vessels (CSOVs). These vessels are designed to support offshore wind operations and maintenance (O&M) logistical services in the UK and .

The Vard 4 22 design, which uses the latest hull design optimized for low fuel consumption and resistance, will be produced in close collaboration with Vard Design in Ålesund, . These vessels will feature new methanol ready hybrid-propulsion solutions and an increased number of single cabins, providing hotel quality accommodation for the technicians working in the field.

The agreement also includes an option for two additional ships, which could ultimately create up to 200 new seafaring job opportunities across the CSOV fleet once operational.
