S4 Energy BV, a Dutch grid-scale energy storage developer and operator and a subsidiary of global merchant firm Castleton Commodities International (CCI), has secured a 310-MW portfolio of advanced battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Germany.
The projects, which are expected to come online between 2026 and 2028, will be acquired from local developer Terra One Climate Solutions GmbH. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
This acquisition follows S4 Energy's recent purchase of a 6-GW BESS pipeline in the Netherlands from UK-based renewable energy company Low Carbon.
With 60 MWh of operational and under-construction assets, S4 Energy is expanding its presence in the energy storage sector. The company also has a pipeline of 1,050 MWh in development.
In October, S4 Energy acquired LC Energy Grid Services (LCEGS), a Dutch firm specializing in high-voltage battery storage systems, further enhancing its portfolio, which includes projects scheduled to be operational in 2025.
