Rolwind Secures Environmental Permit for 200-MW Battery Storage Project in Spain

Spanish company Rolwind has obtained an environmental permit for its 200-MW standalone battery system (BESS) project in , the company announced on Monday.

The permit was granted by the Ministry for Ecological Transition, confirming earlier media reports.

The ST Palmosilla BESS, located in the town of Tarifa in the southwestern province of Cadiz, will have a storage capacity of 885.3 MWh, enabling it to inject power into the transmission grid for up to four hours. The battery system will use -ion containers with lithium iron phosphate cathodes.

Rolwind has a growing portfolio of standalone across Spain, including an additional 443 MW of capacity already submitted for approval to the ministry, according to energy news outlet El Periodico de la Energia.
