US renewables developer rPlus Energies has finalized a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Meta Platforms Inc for its 125-MW Pleasant Valley Solar 2 project in Idaho.
The agreement, set up through Idaho Power, will supply clean energy to Meta's data center in Kuna.
The new solar farm, located in Ada County, will expand upon the existing 200-MW Pleasant Valley Solar 1 project, now largely owned by Matrix Renewables and anticipated to begin operations in early 2025.
Construction of Pleasant Valley Solar 2 is slated to start later this year, with both solar parks feeding energy into Idaho Power's grid.
The initial PPA for Pleasant Valley Solar 1 was signed in May 2023. Both projects were developed as part of Idaho Power's Clean Energy Your Way initiative, reflecting the company's commitment to supporting renewable energy infrastructure in partnership with technology leaders like Meta.
