Romanian oil and gas group OMV Petrom has awarded a consortium of local firms the contract to construct an 89-MWp solar park in Dolj county, near the Bulgarian border.
This project marks OMV Petrom's entry into large-scale photovoltaic (PV) energy and aligns with its strategic goal to develop a 2.5-GW renewables portfolio alongside partners.
The consortium, comprising Actual Connect, Global Technical Systems, Bit Invest, and Alpin Sun, will handle the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) of the facility.
The scope of work includes building the PV plant, a 110-kV substation, and providing two years of operations and maintenance services.
Located in Isalnita, the solar park is projected to generate about 130 GWh of electricity annually and is scheduled for commissioning in the first half of 2026. If funding is approved through Romania's National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), the project will also include an 18-MW/36-MWh battery to enhance grid stability.
OMV Petrom's final investment decision, made in June, underscores its commitment to advancing Romania's renewable energy landscape.
