Burgenland Energie Advances Austria’s Largest Agri-PV Project, Targeting 2025 Completion

Austrian utility AG has made significant progress on its 164-MW agri-photovoltaic (PV) power plant, which, upon completion, will be the largest facility of its kind in .

Since the commencement of installation works in April 2024, approximately 210,000 solar panels have been mounted, representing 80% of the total panels. The plant, located in the district of Neusiedl am See in Burgenland, is expected to become operational in early 2025.

The 180-hectare facility will feature a unique moveable panel system, utilizing a tracker that enables the panels to follow the sun, increasing energy production by an estimated 10% compared to traditional fixed PV installations. This agri-PV project will be integrated with Austria's largest wind farm in Andau, creating a hybrid agri-PV-wind park.

This initiative aligns with Burgenland's broader goal of achieving energy independence by 2030, with the state currently reaching 60% energy self-sufficiency. The project underscores the region's commitment to expanding .
