Schroders Greencoat has acquired the 29MW Stokeford solar farm near Wareham, Dorset, on behalf of its clients.
The 28.5MW project, developed by Innova and its joint venture partner Will Bond, is part of a shared grid connection with the 8MW Alaska wind farm, marking one of the few utility-scale solar-wind grid connections in England.
The Stokeford solar farm, which energised on 31 July 2024, was awarded a Contract for Difference (CfD) in 2022 under the AR4 auction by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
The project, managed by Innova's in-house teams, faced technical and commercial complexities due to the shared grid connection, which were successfully navigated during its development.
This acquisition marks the fourth collaboration between Schroders Greencoat and Innova, continuing their efforts to contribute to the UK's Net Zero goals.
Schroders Greencoat's investment director, Matt Tingle, highlighted the significance of the acquisition as part of the firms' joint ambition to meet the UK's growing demand for clean, affordable energy and to support the government's solar capacity target of 70GW by 2035.
