The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Forest Service is offering up to $34 million in funding to support innovation and job creation within the forestry sector while promoting healthy forest landscapes. The funding, made possible by President Biden's Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act, is available through three key grant programs: the Wood Innovations Grant, the Community Wood Grant, and the Wood Products Infrastructure Assistance Grant Programs.
The Forest Service is inviting proposals that aim to foster innovative uses of sustainably sourced wood for construction, renewable energy production, and the creation of manufactured products. The funding will also help expand and retrofit wood energy systems and wood products manufacturing facilities across the country.
Eligible entities for the grants include private and non-profit organizations, tribal, local and state governments, businesses, institutions of higher education, as well as public utilities and other districts related to fire, conservation, and education. This initiative seeks to strengthen the forest products economy while advancing sustainability and reducing environmental impacts.
