Utility-scale solar contractor J&B Solar has successfully brought the 132-MW AC/175-MW DC Fish Creek solar farm in Montcalm County, Michigan, online ahead of schedule and within budget.
The 594-acre photovoltaic (PV) complex is expected to generate enough electricity to power approximately 30,000 local homes annually.
The Fish Creek project was managed by J&B Solar under the mechanical construction scope for Michigan-based Roncelli Inc.
The company commenced work in May, overseeing the installation of 46,000 steel piles with GPS-guided equipment, construction of 1.2 million linear feet of racking, and the installation of 320,000 PV panels. The site utilizes ATI racking systems and 550-W panels by Japan's VSUN.
To date, J&B Solar has installed more than 3 GW of solar capacity across North America, with the Fish Creek project achieving 100% compliance with the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and 95% union labor compliance.
