Swedish technology firm AB has entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with aerospace and defense company Saab to assess the feasibility of establishing a 200-MW thin-film solar cell manufacturing facility in .

Under the non-binding MoU, the companies will evaluate the project in line with Thailand's targets and industrial cooperation goals.

Thailand's policies promote industrial partnerships and technology transfer, aiming to expand its renewable energy capacity.

If viable, the plant will produce cells using Midsummer's technology, with the Swedish firm set to design the facility and supply necessary production equipment. Midsummer will retain a minority ownership in the Thai manufacturing company established for the project.

Beyond Thailand, the partnership may extend to similar initiatives in other markets, according to Midsummer CEO Eric Jaremalm, who expressed enthusiasm about delivering a “turnkey solar cell factory” to Thailand, with the potential for future expansions.
