OEG Renewables Expands Fleet with New Crew Transfer Vessel for Asia Pacific Operations

has contracted Strategic Marine to build a new crew transfer vessel (CTV), the Wey Feng, to support its operations in the region. The 27-meter aluminum catamaran, designed by BMT, will be the fourth StratCat 27 vessel added to OEG Renewables' fleet. Equipped with two 1450hp Caterpillar C32 engines and a fuel capacity of 35,000 liters, the vessel will carry up to 24 technicians and operate in conditions with wave heights up to 1.75 meters.

Scheduled for delivery to in February 2025, the Wey Feng will bolster OEG's ongoing offshore wind projects in the area. According to OEG, the vessel's name, meaning “power and prestige,” reflects its strength and majesty.

Michael James, general manager of OEG Renewables' marine service line, highlighted the importance of the addition, stating, “We are delighted to welcome the Wey Feng to our growing fleet.” James noted that the StratCat 27 model has already demonstrated its success on multiple projects in Taiwan.

Eric Briar, OEG Renewables managing director, emphasized the growing demand for vessel services in the region as offshore wind projects expand across , Taiwan, and South Korea. “OEG Renewables supports the development of offshore wind projects throughout Japan, Taiwan and South Korea, utilizing our experienced personnel and highly efficient fleet of vessels to successfully deliver a range of work scopes,” Briar said.
