Canadian energy company Enbridge has announced the approval of the 815-MW Sequoia solar project in Texas, which is set to become one of the largest solar developments in North America upon completion.
The project represents a significant investment of USD 1.1 billion (EUR 1.01 billion) and has secured long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with telecommunications giant AT&T and automotive manufacturer Toyota for the majority of its energy output.
Situated 150 miles (241 km) west of Dallas, the Sequoia solar park is slated to commence operations in two phases, with expected online dates in 2025 and 2026.
Enbridge's third-quarter report noted that the project's construction has been notably de-risked, aided by preliminary equipment and procurement contracts.
The company has successfully executed key permits and purchase orders, positioning the project for a smooth development process.
