Australian renewable energy developer has obtained planning permission from the state's Independent Planning Commission (IPC) for the construction of a 700-MW wind farm in .

The approval brings the developer closer to commencing construction activities for the Spicers Creek wind farm.

Situated in Wiradjuri Country within the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone, the proposed project will feature up to 117 turbines. Once operational, the wind farm is expected to generate enough electricity to power over 395,000 homes and help offset approximately 650,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

Squadron Energy secured the GE Vernova turbines in a deal worth AUD 2.75 billion (USD 1.81 billion/EUR 1.66 billion) earlier this year to equip three projects in New South Wales.

The Spicers Creek project is anticipated to inject around AUD 46.9 million into the local economy and create over 330 jobs during its construction phase. The company is currently focused on detailed design, management plans, and obtaining additional approvals before reaching the shovel-ready stage.
