announced that DNV has awarded basic design certification to its Brunel floating wind foundation, marking a key advancement toward site-specific project certification.

Part of Norway's Bonheur ASA-owned Fred. Olsen group, the company focuses on renewables innovation.

“This certification module has been a follow-up from the concept certification performed in 2022 and has shown that Brunel has matured,” said Anne Lene Haukanes Hopstad, DNV's project manager, adding that further development phases will continue certification progress.

The Brunel design features a semi-submersible structure with dual towers and a forward-leaning angle.

The project saw collaboration with several partners, including for independent engineering consultation, Seasystems for mooring and turret technologies, MOOG Focal for high-voltage swivels, and 7Waves on primary steel design.
