Israeli independent power producer Econergy Renewable Energy Ltd has successfully connected its first solar farms in Italy, achieving a total capacity of nearly 20 MWp in the country. The latest addition is the 1-MWp Indovina plant in Sicily, which joins three other solar farms of the same capacity: Palmeri, Gallo Assunta, and Favari.
In addition to these projects in Sicily, Econergy's Italian portfolio includes solar farms in the Piedmont region, comprising the 11.5-MWp Rivarolo and the 4.2-MWp Cumiana parks. The company has been expanding its presence in other European markets, including the UK and Romania, but Italy remains a key focus.
Econergy has an ambitious pipeline in Italy, with 135 solar photovoltaic projects totaling around 2.1 GW planned. The company is also venturing into energy storage development. Construction of a significant 100-MW solar project is expected to commence by the end of 2024, further solidifying Econergy's commitment to the Italian renewable energy landscape.
