German renewable energy operator Encavis AG has entered a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Danish conglomerate Schouw & Co, marking Schouw & Co's first PPA in Europe.
This agreement will provide Schouw & Co's European operations with around 88 GWh of green electricity annually, meeting over 40% of their regional energy needs, according to Encavis.
The electricity will be sourced from Encavis' 55-MW Fundici solar farm in Guillena, Andalusia, Spain, with supplies set to begin in the first half of 2025.
This partnership aligns with Schouw & Co's commitment to reducing CO₂ emissions across its value chain, as highlighted by CEO Jens Bjerg Sorensen, who noted that the PPA is “a significant step in reducing emissions from purchased electricity.”
Encavis currently operates 500 MW of renewable assets in Spain and is constructing an additional 317 MW.
