Deliveries of wind turbines have commenced for the Wambo Wind Farm, a 506-megawatt (MW) renewable energy project developed by Cubico and Stanwell Corporation in Queensland, Australia. Located near Jandowae, the wind farm's development is supported by extensive infrastructure upgrades. Harrison Infrastructure Group (HIG) led the design for road modifications at 38 key points between the Port of Brisbane and the project site to facilitate the transportation of oversized turbine components. Road construction upgrades are expected to be completed by early 2025, ensuring access to all turbine locations.
“The HIG project team are to be commended for their hard work and dedication over the last two years,” noted HIG. “We're proud of our team who are creating positive change and crafting a successful project.”
The Wambo Wind Farm will be built in two stages: the first phase, consisting of 42 turbines, will add 252MW of clean energy to Queensland's grid. The second phase will contribute an additional 254MW from another 41 turbines. The project is anticipated to create around 200 jobs during the construction phase, with eight to nine ongoing roles for management and maintenance once operations commence.
