Inyanga Marine Energy Expands Tidal Energy Ventures with Crowdfunding Initiative

has launched a crowdfunding campaign through , offering investors an opportunity to support its project, HydroWing. The fully integrated tidal solution is engineered to tap into the reliability and predictability of tidal flows for power generation, positioning Inyanga as a contender in the expanding global market.

HydroWing recently received the United Kingdom's largest tidal energy project contract, granted through the government's latest Contracts for Difference (CfD) allocation round in September 2024. The agreement will see the expansion of HydroWing's capacity at the Morlais tidal site in Wales, doubling output from 10 megawatts (MW) to 20 MW. Beyond the UK, Inyanga also secured its inaugural tidal energy contract in , reinforcing its international ambitions.

“We are progressing on our mission to become the world leaders in tidal energy,” stated Richard Parkinson, CEO of Inyanga Marine Energy Group. “This crowdfunding round is an opportunity to be part of our exciting journey.”

HydroWing's design involves a seabed-mounted structure that supports “wings” holding bi-directional turbines, which generate energy from both incoming and outgoing tides, enhancing efficiency. Inyanga has emphasized that the system is scalable, cost-effective, and can be produced efficiently at scale.

Recently, Inyanga expanded its technological portfolio by acquiring the D10 tidal turbine, France's first grid-connected tidal turbine, securing operational rights in the Fromveur Passage off the coast of Brittany until August 2028.
