German electrolyser manufacturer AG & Co KgaA has announced that it has been awarded up to EUR 36 million (USD 38.7 million) in EU for a project aimed at constructing a 300-MW facility for production.

The facility will utilize Solid Oxide Electrolyser Cell (SOEC) technology, a high-temperature electrolysis method noted for its efficiency and cost-effectiveness, according to Thyssenkrupp Nucera's CEO, Werner Ponikwar.

The funding from the EU Innovation Fund is expected to expedite the industrialization of this advanced electrolysis technology.

Before establishing the planned 300-MW facility, Thyssenkrupp Nucera intends to commission an 8-MW pilot plant in the first half of 2025.

This high-temperature electrolysis technology has been developed in collaboration with the for Ceramic Technologies and Systems IKTS, following a partnership established in March 2024.
