Global private asset manager Capital Dynamics has secured a EUR 185 million (USD 199.1 million) loan to finance two agrivoltaic sites currently under construction in Italy, boasting a combined capacity of 187 MW.
The funding was arranged with Natixis Corporate and Investment Banking (Natixis CIB).
Located in Sicily, these projects are among the largest subsidy-free agrivoltaic initiatives in the country. The solar farms will incorporate agricultural elements, with olive groves planted adjacent to the solar installations and prickly pears cultivated between the solar trackers. Additionally, beekeeping initiatives will be part of the project.
Once operational, the two solar farms are expected to generate approximately 324 GWh of clean energy annually, sufficient to power more than 63,500 homes.
The sites, which were acquired in October 2023, will elevate Capital Dynamics' total gross annual generation capacity in Italy to around 1 TWh.
