Argentine power company Genneia has announced a seven-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with CDV, a Buenos Aires-based laboratory that specializes in vaccines and other biological products for animal health.
Facilitated through Argentina's MATER green energy marketplace for large electricity consumers, the PPA allows CDV to source 80% of its electricity demand from Genneia's wind and solar power assets.
Genneia will supply renewable energy to meet the needs of CDV's three veterinary vaccine manufacturing plants located in the Pilar Industrial Park. Two of these plants are currently operational, consuming a combined 6,400 MWh of electricity annually, while the third plant is under construction and set to begin operations in the first half of 2025.
The agreement includes an option for the parties to renew the PPA after the initial seven-year term. As of early 2024, Genneia has achieved a total operational capacity of 1,004 MW in wind and solar power.
