On October 21, 2024, Germany officially inaugurated its largest floating photovoltaic (PV) system at Philippsee, an event attended by Minister-President Winfried Kretschmann and State Secretary Dr. Franziska Brantner. This initiative marks a significant step in the country's renewable energy efforts.
The floating solar system utilizes unused water bodies to generate clean energy, contributing to Germany's renewable energy targets. Additionally, the installation helps reduce water evaporation from the lake's surface.
Sven Thieme, Executive Chairman of O&L Group, stated, “At O&L, we take pride in being Authentic, Caring and Passionate in all that we do. This project exemplifies these characteristics by caring for our environment, passionately driving innovation, and authentically seeking sustainable solutions that make a real difference. Our team's dedication and expertise were essential in bringing this innovative vision to life.”
Minister-President Kretschmann praised the project, reaffirming his commitment to green technologies that facilitate the energy transition in Baden-Württemberg and beyond.
Steffen Kammerer, Group Managing Director of O&L Nexentury GmbH, added, “We are immensely proud of this achievement and of the hard work and passion demonstrated by our team. This floating PV installation not only serves as a powerful symbol of the future of energy but also aligns perfectly with our commitment to creating a more sustainable and caring world.”
