GmbH announced on Friday its acquisition of two wind parks and a solar farm from Vienna-based ImWind Erneuerbare Energie GmbH, boosting its renewable generation capacity by a combined total of 130 MW.

The portfolio includes the operational 52.2-MW Moenchhof wind farm located in Burgenland. It also encompasses the 61.8-MW Loidesthal II wind farm and the 16.8-MW Hohenau-Ringelsdorf solar park, both currently under construction in Lower . The overall capacity is projected to generate over 280 GWh of electricity annually, enough to supply around 80,000 average Austrian households.

Wien Energie secured the assets following a successful bid in an international sales process. The deal, however, is pending approval from Austrian competition authorities. Once finalized, ImWind will continue to oversee the technical operations of the projects.

The addition of these wind farms is expected to increase Wien Energie's annual wind power production by more than 50% within the next two years. The company also anticipates contributions from its Ebreichsdorf wind farm, which is currently being developed. Wien Energie aims to generate wind power for approximately 200,000 Austrian households by 2026, according to managing directors Michael Strebl and Karl Gruber.

Overall, the company is focused on building a portfolio comprising solar, wind, and facilities with a total capacity of 1 GW by 2030. Additionally, Wien Energie has set a target to achieve full climate neutrality by 2040.
