Plenitude Begins Construction of 220 MW Solar Plant in Salamanca, Spain

Plenitude has commenced construction on a 220 MW plant in Villarino de los Aires, Salamanca, , which will be among the largest in the y León region. Covering 286 hectares, the plant is expected to produce over 400,000 MWh of electricity annually once completed in 2025. The project will feature 365,300 bifacial solar modules and will connect to the national transmission grid via a 3.2 km underground medium-voltage line.

A cornerstone laying ceremony was held with the presence of representatives from the Regional Government of Castilla y León, the City Council, and Plenitude. Sterling & Wilson, alongside local firms, will support the construction efforts. Environmental measures include the conservation of rural huts, natural water channels, and a permeable hunting fence to ensure minimal disruption to the local ecosystem.

Mariangiola Mollicone, head of Western renewables and managing director of Plenitude in Spain, highlighted the project's community integration, stating: “The Villarino project is a virtuous example of integration with the territory.” She also affirmed the company's commitment to continued collaboration in line with its business and growth strategy.

This new solar facility adds to Plenitude's existing renewable energy operations in Castilla y León, which includes a 13 MW wind plant. Overall, Plenitude operates over 440 MW of solar and wind capacity across Spain, with 1 GW of renewable energy projects under construction in Andalusia, Castilla y León, and . The company is further developing over 2 GW of capacity through additional projects.
