Ekhi, the Spain-based solar division of Dutch energy transition platform Return, has announced the acquisition of two solar photovoltaic projects in the province of Zaragoza, which collectively add over 44 MW to its portfolio.
The projects were purchased from Spanish solar contractor Enerland, with financing provided by Banco Sabadell, although specific financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
The newly acquired solar farms are expected to generate approximately 86 GWh of electricity annually. Acquired in a ready-to-build stage, Enerland will continue to assist in bringing the projects into operation.
This acquisition marks a significant expansion for Ekhi, which has primarily focused on self-consumption and distributed generation projects, as these new plants represent the largest installations in its Spanish portfolio.
The solar farms will be grid-connected and will contribute to the wholesale electricity market.
