Nordic large-scale clean energy solutions provider Meriaura Energy Ltd has announced a €5.3 million (USD 5.77 million) agreement to deploy a solar thermal plant for the German municipality of Steyerberg.
The contract was signed with BuergerEnergie Steyerberg-Fernwaerme eG and involves the construction of a solar thermal field covering approximately 13,700 square meters (147,465 sq ft), along with thermal storage to supply heat to the local district heating network.
The project has received approval for subsidy funding, but the agreement is contingent upon securing a financing commitment and obtaining a building permit, both of which are expected to be finalized this year. The solar thermal plant is projected to be completed by 2025.
Meriaura Energy, part of the renewable energy division of Meriaura Group, specializes in solar thermal systems that utilize high-performance collectors manufactured by the company.
To date, it has achieved a total installed capacity of 91 MW, with an average annual energy production of 82 GWh.
