Helexia, a subsidiary of French renewables company Voltalia SA, has announced the acquisition of agricultural photovoltaic (PV) hangars in France with a combined generation capacity of 28 MW.
The company stated that it now owns 202 solar arrays installed atop farm buildings, enhancing its offerings in the farming sector.
Voltalia, along with its subsidiaries Helexia and Terravene, is currently collaborating to provide tailored solutions for farmers in France. All acquired facilities are operational and operate under 20-year electricity sales contracts.
Voltalia launched its first agrivoltaic project in 2021 with the 3-MW Cabanon array in southeastern France's Provence-Alpes-Cote-d'Azur region. Since then, the company has been deploying projects that integrate solar production with sheep eco-grazing.
Together with Helexia, Voltalia has established over 190 MW of agrivoltaic sites and is in the process of developing projects with a potential capacity exceeding 1 GW.
