The plant, which previously relied on , will now run entirely on green energy sourced from a plant and an unsubsidized wind farm in Germany.

This switch is projected to save over 10,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions over the next decade, marking a significant step towards GMH Gruppe's climate-neutral steel production goals.

The company aims to halve its emissions by 2030, with a target of near-zero emissions by 2039.

Marc Oliver Arnold, the plant's director, emphasized that this initiative represents a major advancement in making steel tempering more climate-friendly, complementing the already steel melting process.
