Poland's Industrial Development Agency (ARP) is planning to construct a hydrogen production facility estimated to cost between EUR 1.5 billion and EUR 2 billion (USD 1.6 billion – USD 2.2 billion) in a bid to promote large-scale adoption of green hydrogen in the economy.
The facility is likely to be located in the southwestern province of Silesia, as indicated by ARP president Michal Dabrowski in a recent statement to the Polish press agency PAP.
The project will be executed through a joint venture, with one of the partners identified as a technological company, though further details about the collaborators have not been disclosed.
The initial phase of the project is set to commence next year, with ARP committing PLN 600 million (USD 153 million / EUR 140 million) to the effort. Additionally, the agency intends to seek funding from the European Hydrogen Bank.
Dabrowski highlighted the transformative potential of the project, calling it a “game changer” for the region. He emphasized its impact on the Polish economy, particularly in the fields of transportation and environmental sustainability.
The ARP aims to establish a comprehensive green hydrogen value chain, encompassing technology development, production, and utilization across various sectors.
